The good times...

I have a little bad habit of focusing on the rough things in life. I started this blog as a focus on the positives in my life, and lately every time I get the urge to blog, I just want to vent about junk. Hence the reason there hasn't been a lot of blogging going on around here.
There has been a decent amount of junk lately, but I won't give in. Instead, I'm going to share some of my favorite things from the past few weeks.
Jamie at our campsite
Orangeleaf!!!
Valentine's Day Dinner at the Melting Pot.
Jamie stuffing his face with Orangeleaf. =)
My Dress for my sister's wedding!!!! So excited!
Qdoba with my love.
My beautiful flowering bush in front of my house. =)
Bazbeaux pizza!!!
Best camping dinner EVER.

(P.S. I originally posted this from my iPhone app, so I had to go add the captions later.  And that's why they are strangely out of order.)

New friend...

I made a new friend today.
His name turned out to be Hank.
He surprised us by showing up in our backyard.
He had no ID tag, but had a vet tag, so we called them, and they called his owners, who live on a street near us.
They came and got him within the hour.
He was such a sweet boy.
When you walk, he runs in front of you and flops over on his back, so you will rub his belly.
I got this picture off the internet, but it seriously looks exactly like Hank, red collar and all.
Glad he could visit us for an hour.
His owners are really nice too.
I love dogs.

And of course seeing the lovely Tim and Misty, who I love and miss, but as usual I forgot to take pictures.

This weekend...

Had a garage sale this weekend.
It was kind of a surprise, all of the sudden, on wednesday, a sign went up for "Community garage sale, this saturday!"
Oh hey, thanks for the notice!

So we threw some stuff together.
We were even hauling stuff out of the attic the day of the sale.
I didn't have high hopes for the sale.
But, I was wrong.
we actually made $50!!!
We are going to use it as mad money, and save it for when we want to do something on a whim.
Which makes me super excited

On a sad note, yesterday, I lost one of my favorite earrings.
and not just lost it.
It quite literally fell out of my ear as I bent over to pick something off of the floor...
and it fell into the toilet.
Yep. Seriously.
I tried to get it (the water was clean)
But it was gone.
way gone.
I am super, super bummed about this.
These were some of my favorites.
I wear them all the time.
Ugh.
Just my luck.

Good news, however, is that we are going to see
Ray Lamontagne
tomorrow night!!
It's going to be an awesome time, even though I have to work the whole morning. (long, complicated work story.)
Looking forward to spending a night with husband, listening to some great music!

See how the garden grows...

Really great day today.

Jamie and I had a huge fight on Tuesday night.
Although, it's deceiving to call it a fight.
Our fights are like... heated conversations.
There's very little yelling, or anger, we just vent and then try to come up with a solution.
This "conversation" lasted until 3 AM.
But on the other side, we both had a much better understanding of what the other one needs right now to be happy.
And things have been much better.

We had a lot of fun today.
I worked a lot on the garden all morning.
The biggest problem in the garden right now is the grass.
 It's taking over.
So, I spent the day laying weed barrier between the rows.
It was a lot of work, but I'm really hoping it will kill the grass, and then next year we won't have any problems with it.
I also planted some more.
Tomatoes,
Peppers,
And onions,
so Jamie can make salsa.
And,
Lettuce,
and asparagus
 are growing!

Then Jamie and I went to the store to pick up some more fence, because the bunnies are eating my green beans. Jerks.
All they had was white.
And all my other fence is green.
It looks pretty redneck, but oh well.
We had a good time in Kmart, which was deserted, like always, and we had a pool noodle sword fight.
Seriously.
It was so fun.
It felt good to act like a kid again. I don't do that often.
While there, we found a patio umbrella on sale.
We've been talking about getting one for a while, so..
Tada!
Can I just say, this second picture cracks me up because Emma is trying to knock Minnie's head off. hahaha
Now we just need to get a table and chairs that aren't junk.
Someday.

Impromptu Broadripple Trip!

Husband surprised me with a trip to Broadripple last night.
It was so great
We hung out, ate Qdoba and Red Mango (yum!), walked the Monon a bit, and went into a few little shops.
It's been so nice having him home these past few evenings.
I miss him now that he's back at work.
So excited for this summer, when I can see him more.
I am one paper away, and for better or worse, the semester will be over for me.
Jamie has a week and a 1/2, and then he is done.
I love him.
Can't wait to have an opportunity to show him that more.

Here we go, Ladies and Gentlemen..

Here. We. Go.
I started full-time student teaching today.
I will be working full time at the store AND full time student teaching for the next two weeks.
Insane.
I will say though, that I love being in the classroom full time.
Love it.
It just reminds me that this is where I'm supposed to be. Even with all of the challenges I face in that school, it's where I'm supposed to be.

So, this past weekend was sort of Jamie and I's last hurrah, and it was great.
Saturday morning we got up and made pancakes, yum! And then we both went to work until midnight.
When I got home, he said, "We should go out."
To which i readily replied "Yeah!"
I don't think he expected that, but he followed through.
So, we went to Claddagh's, Howl at the Moon, and then Steak and Shake.
It was so fun.
But, we didn't get home until 4 AM.
So, needless to say, we slept in on Sunday.
I was feeling a little under the weather, anyway.
After I crawled out of bed and took some Tylenol,
we took a bike ride!
We put on earmuffs, gloves, and coats, and rode around our edition and the edition across the street.
It was great, but also reminded me of just how out of shape I am.
And that is REALLY out of shape.
Yikes.
Then, Sunday night, I watched one of our pre-streets, called "Get Low"
Pre-streets are movies that are at the store before they go on the shelves.
It's a lovely little perk of working at Family Video.
"Get Low," however, was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. I love small, independent titles, and this was a great one.
Seriously, it was absolutely wonderful. I was really, really impressed, and I would recommend it to all.

And, I'm really excited, because there were TWO previews of movies that I think look awesome!

I have also found a new musical love.
Dum da da dum!
Florence + the Machine.
They are awesome.
I bought their CD "Lungs" and it is awesome. I just love her voice.
This is the video from their most famous release "Dog Days are Over."
Just a warning, the video is VERY eccentric, so please don't let that turn you off of the song.
Because it's awesome.

And there's some good news around here!
Minnie's ears are finally getting better!
The white little spots on the tips of her ears are where the sores were. They have scabbed over and healed, which makes me a really, really happy woman.
She's pretty happy too, I can tell.

Well, I'm off to do the last little bit of homework I have before biggest loser.
